Joseph D. Sansone

Outside Director, Chairman of the Compensation Committee

Currently a Board Member of EHI since 2012, Mr. Sansone was previously Founder, President and CEO of Pediatria HealthCare, LLC, a privately held company focusing on day health centers and private duty nursing services for medically fragile children. Under his leadership, the company grew organically from inception in 2006 to its successful sale to EPIC Healthcare in October, 2016. From its initial start, the company grew to $50 million in revenue employing over 1,400 clinicians in 8 states.

In 1989, Mr. Sansone founded Pediatric Service of America, Inc., and held the positions of Chairman, President and CEO taking the company public in 1994 (NASDAQ: PSAI). During his tenure, a niche was carved that led to PSAI’s growth from an $8 million regional company to the nation’s largest pediatric home healthcare organization with revenues nearing $400 million and employing over 4,000 nurses, therapists and support staff. During this time Mr. Sansone was also founded and was past Chairman of Orion HealthCorp, Inc., a $60 million support service company to the pediatric physician practice community.

Mr. Sansone also served as Executive Vice President of Operations for Inhalation Therapy Services, Inc. (a division of Tenet Healthcare Corporation) which became the nation’s largest respiratory therapy contracting company. There he developed and managed clinical programs with over 350 hospitals in over 40 states, Europe and South America.

Mr. Sansone graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, with a BS in Healthcare Administration, and received an MBA from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He was chosen as the 1997 Health and Life Sciences National Entrepreneur of the Year. In addition to EHI, he currently serves on Georgia State University’s Foundation Board, and the Board of PromptCare, Inc. a $130 million hi-tech home health company. Mr. Sansone has also served as a Regional, National and World Judge for the Entrepreneur of The Year Awards and has lectured on Health Care Entrepreneurship at Emory, Northeastern and Georgia State Universities. He is very active with children’s charities and has endowed nursing scholarships.
